June 25: A Jet-Setter’s Must-Haves

Grab your bags because we’re going on a trip!  My family and I are taking a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico with stops in Miami and Key West along the way. Naturally, my packing list is set for an expected ultimate sun-shining paradise. While sipping margaritas in straw hats decorated in florals is all the fun, making sure your bag is topped with a dash of practicality is a must. For me, this means the right bag and the right products.

While cruises are relaxing, the excursions on shore will be full of adventure. I’m bringing with me my trusted mini shoulder bag. It’s eclectic patterns keep the summer vibe alive, but also has enough room to store travel essentials such as a passport, wallet, phone and charger, and a few staple beauty tidbits.

At the top of my list is sunscreen. Lathering your face in sunscreen is often an undesirable task, but this Coppertone SPF 30 is specifically made for faces. I use this pretty much everyday under my makeup. It absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves minimal residue; it’s great to use just as is, or to be put over moisturizer and under makeup.

Knowing that I will be spending the better half of my time outside in the sun, I’m planning on a more light and natural makeup look. My ideal candidate for this purpose is the Almay Smart Shade skintone matching makeup. It’s got a bit of SPF in it, but it also does great at evening skintones and hiding a few blemishes. The lightweight formula assures that it won’t leave streaks, melting away in the heat.

Protecting the eyes is another battle; go-to sunnies are a must. I’ll always go for a classic black. These rounded cat-eyes have silver accents which make them the perfect versatile accessory. This way I know I won’t be squinting too much, or have beaming UV Rays affecting my vision later on. Sunglasses are one of the most fun things to shop for. Finding something that flatters your face shape, your personality, and whatever look you want to achieve is a thrill – so maybe bring one or two more pairs!

Whatever you decide to bring along with you, the best advice would be to make sure you have what you need to be comfortable the whole way (even if that means ditching the designer wedges for some Aerosole sandals!). Protect your skin if you’re going to be outside, bring weather appropriate clothing and shoes, and try not to overpack! This way you can rest assured that your vacation will be one for the books.
